Managing Stress, Low Mood, and Anxiety
An 8-Week LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Programme for Wellbeing
Many people experience stress, low mood, or anxiety at some stage of their lives. While these challenges are common, they can have a significant impact on confidence, resilience, and day-to-day wellbeing.
This innovative 8-week programme offers a structured and supportive way to explore these experiences, using the creativity and psychological safety of the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method. The course is designed as a therapeutic intervention rather than therapy, open to anyone experiencing mild to moderate challenges with their mental health. It complements existing support and is not intended as a replacement for medical treatment.
How it works
- Format: Eight weekly sessions (2 hours each)
- Group size: Up to 10 participants for a safe, supportive atmosphere
- Facilitators: Delivered by a qualified LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® practitioner and an experienced mental health professional
- Method: Participants use LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®, a structured facilitation method that involves “thinking with your hands.” By building metaphorical models, people can safely explore their thoughts, feelings, and coping strategies. These models are not about toys or play in the traditional sense, but about creating powerful metaphors that make the abstract more tangible and easier to discuss.
Benefits
By the end of the programme, participants will:
- Gain insight into how stress, low mood, and anxiety affect thoughts, feelings, and behaviours
- Recognise and reframe unhelpful patterns of thinking
- Explore personal values and strengths as resources for resilience
- Develop practical strategies to support everyday wellbeing
- Experience the value of shared group work in reducing isolation and building connection
